MIKKO A Hanging Light Sculpture To Benefit The Wilson Foundation

Thank you for your interest in bidding on the MIKKO suspended light sculpture which launches Littman Brands Contract’s Brighten the World Campaign to benefit The Wilson Foundation.

The Wilson Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 1997 to address the needs of disadvantaged and underserved children. Most of their work is focused in Limpopo Province, South Africa, an area devastated by extreme poverty, unemployment, substandard education, and extreme HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis pandemics that have left a staggering number of orphans and other vulnerable children in its wake. TB is now the leading cause of death in the region.

The Wilson Foundation makes grants to the NGO’s (nongovernmental organizations) that serve the needs of the people in this region and are also working to help to eradicate both pandemics in the United States.

MIKKO: A dynamic work of art and movement in contrasting forms.

Inspired by modular Origami folds and co-designed by May Poon with Wilson Associates and Littman Brands Contract, the MIKKO architectural hanging light sculpture is a dynamic work of art and movement in contrasting forms. Each flexible aluminum body is comprised of 228 individual folds that house a single 1-watt warm LED. One form is finished in brushed aluminum, while the other is finished in gloss black with black matte accents. The folds are woven together with aircraft cable, and MIKKO’s final design is determined by strategic placement (including length, tension and location) of the cable suspension points.
